HÅG - Passion for movement

HÅG has a history extending over 70 years within the development, production and sales of innovative seating products making HÅG one of the strongest brands within office seating in Scandinavia and one of the top 10 in manufacturers in Europe. This position has been achieved thanks to a basic understanding of seating solutions which satisfy the body’s need for movement. HÅG develops high quality chairs in which functionality and innovative design are combined.

Perfection across the board
The hallmark of HÅG’s visual design is perfection in all their details and the freedom for users to find chairs which are not only functional, but which offer a range of alternatives and variations in choice of covers and colours to reflect their own personality. Over the years, HÅG’s products have won a range of design awards and in 2009, two HÅG chairs - HÅG Futu and HÅG Sideways - won the Good Design award from the Nordic Design Council for the successful application of design to create innovative products.

Always in perfect balance
Common to all HÅG seating products is that the user sits in perfect balance - the best starting point for movement. Users should be able to move just as easily forwards as backwards. The front edge of the seat can tip downwards when the user is leaning forward to work, and upwards when the user leans back. The user has complete control over the chair based on his own need for movement and variation. HÅG chairs are controlled by the human body and follow the user naturally to the next seating position - without the user even having to think about it.

100% satisfaction
HÅG products must always meet or surpass international quality standards by focusing on choice of materials, product development and technological processes. Focus is concentrated on quality throughout the value chain - from product development to delivery and customer service. In addition to HÅG’s quality management system being certified in accordance with NS-ISO 9001, the chairs are tested in accordance with European standard EN 1335. American standard ANSI Bifma and in some instances, British Standard BS 5459-2, used to test intensive use (over 24 hours).

Environmental pioneer
Environmental responsibility at HÅG is not just a short-term fad, but a level of commitment the brand has stood for over many years. HÅG began to use recycled plastic from such sources as bottle tops almost 20 years in its production of chairs. Nowadays, everything from plastic bags to shampoo bottles and recycled aluminium are used and no less than over 95% of a new HÅG chair can be recycled.

HÅG was the first office chair manufacturer to be certified according to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standard and the ISO 14025 Environmental Product Declaration and is EMAS registered. As the first European furniture manufacturer, HÅG has also received certification from the Greenguard Environmental Institute in the USA. The certificate guarantees that HÅG’s products do not contain hazardous substances or emit pollutants. HÅG Futu office chair won the coveted Environment Award for good design in 2009 and was used as the standard chair for the 350 delegates to the climate conference in Copenhagen. HÅG was also chosen when Bellona presented the 101 best solutions to the climate crisis (www.101-solutions.org).
