Passion for movement
HÅG is one of the strongest brands within office seating in Scandinavia and one of the top 10 manufacturers in Europe. One reason for this success is the brand’s ability to constantly renew itself in line with changing demands.
The way in which we live changes, and a sitting position that involves movement, not only of the hands, arms and head, but also of the legs, plays a part in keeping people healthy and fit throughout the working day.
HÅG’s position has been achieved thanks to a basic understanding of seating solutions that satisfy the body’s need for movement, and by supplying the market with high quality chairs in which functionality and innovative design are combined.
In order to further develop and strengthen this position, HÅG established the “Passion for Movement” concept. This concept is built on the three basic elements in design philosophy, while at the same time making it clear, through modern design, that movement is essential for all life. Holistic design, we call it, when we develop chairs for HÅG and focus just as much on the aesthetic and functional as we do on the environment and quality. The overall design should stimulate the body’s natural movements and have a positive effect on both body and mind.
In 2010, the brand was further developed by the launching of HÅG Capisco Puls, which is completely new generation of the classic chair. Peter Opsvik designed this chair, and like its predecessor, it is based on an understanding of the human body and the body’s need to be in constant motion. Only one month after it was launched in October 2010, HÅG received is first award for HÅG Capisco Puls, namely the iF Product Design Award.
Another chair that has distinguished itself internationally is HÅG Futu. This is an office chair that appears impressively simple on the outside – and has all its functionality built in. Earlier, HÅG Futu has received many awards, including the Award for Design Excellence and the Sustainability Award from the Norwegian Design Council. After the international launching of the chair, HÅG Futu has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Award. This is one of the world’s most recognised design competitions and only products that clearly distinguish themselves from comparable products because of their unique design receive this coveted seal of quality from the international jury. The jury judges the products based on the degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics and environmental considerations, as well as user-friendliness.
At the same time, the existing HÅG Capisco collection distinguished itself by being the first office chair in the world to be awarded the official Swan eco-label in 2010.
Environmental pioneer
For many years, HÅG has distinguished itself internationally by the brand reflecting the company’s commitment to the environment and its social responsibility. HÅG started to use recycled plastics, from bottle tops for example, in its chair production as early as 1995. HÅG was the first office chair manufacturer to be certified in accordance with the ISO 14001 environmental standard and the Eco Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). In the office chair segment, the HÅG brand was the first in Europe to be certified by the US GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. This certificate guarantees that the product causes no hazardous emissions. In addition, all of HÅG’s most important collections are EDP certified (Environmental Product Declaration). These declarations, which are based on ISO 14025, show that HÅG’s chairs distinguish themselves by having the industry’s smallest carbon footprint. In 2010, after previously having been awarded the prestigious Sustainability Award by the Norwegian Design Council for HÅG Futu, we also received international recognition by being awarded the US Green GOOD DESIGN award in competition with several thousands of contributions from 46 countries.
